Learning Objectives:
This one-day conference provides information on practical ways to improve outcomes for individuals with FASD across systems of care. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are a spectrum of brain-based developmental disorders that affect many aspects of daily living and last a lifetime. A recent study conservatively estimated that FASD affects as many as 1 in 20 first graders.
Morning plenary sessions will address the global context of FASD, personal experiences of living with FASD, Minnesota's efforts to develop FASD-informed services, and a panel comprised of speakers on the afternoon topics below. The conference will close with a plenary session on the basics of advocacy.
Target Audience:
Parents, educators, service providers working in substance use/mental health prevention and treatment programs, people serving the homeless, employers, probation officers, and staff working in the judicial and criminal justice system, judges, police officers, CWS, and anyone involved in the human services field.
