Overview:
This planning meeting will provide substance misuse prevention providers the opportunity to share ideas, collaborate, and assist in creating a year-long plan for Maui County's Substance Misuse Prevention System. The planning meeting will cover the following focus areas: prevention-specific training needs, current substance misuse trends and service gaps within the County, workforce development needs (e.g. increasing Certified Prevention Specialists), creating opportunities for cross-collaboration amongst providers, and providing technical assistance to providers as it relates to resources and available opportunities that increase prevention efforts in the County.
The meeting will provide opportunities for providers to discuss these focus areas in detail, identify current needs within the County, develop strategies, create an action plan to address the identified needs over the next year.
Participants:
Substance misuse prevention providers, in-school and after-school prevention programs, youth centers staff, school personnel addressing substance misuse issues, community coalition members addressing substance issues, school resource officers, and other youth-serving organizations with a stake in substance misuse prevention.
This is a county-wide meeting, and individuals from Moloka'i, Lana'i, and Hana areas are encouraged to attend. There are travel scholarships available for individuals traveling from these areas. Please submit your travel request via email to [email protected].
